One of my autobahn adventures last year was a 'controlled traffic jam'. Basically you get overtaken by a police car, it switches to the center lane, lights up a big LED 'do not pass' (or something... it was in German) in the back window and all lanes slow down behind it to about 40kph, sometimes slower. The LEDs go out after say 20km and the police car takes the next exit.
