Description:
The Merkur XR4Ti is an oddity even without this funky paint job. I thought I'd
add a few cars that aren't necessarily rice but still should be able to
raise a few eyebrows.

Is that a Toyota or a Datsun in the far lane?
Anyway, I always thougth the Merkur XR4Ti was an interesting car...probably just because of the name though. I think in Europe it was called the Ford Escort XR4Ti. I may be wrong though. They were actually pretty fast for European Escorts...(that's not saying much though.)

It's so funny when you say this car's name out loud, people have no idea what the hell you are talking about. It's a MerkurEcksAreForeTeeEye....

0-60: Yes. But seriously, doesn't this paint job remind anyone of Dale Earnhardt's old Wrangler scheme from the '80s?

Stock Merkurs that came here to the US are slow... and kinda unreliable. But it's possible to import every part to upgrade them to Cosworth status, and then they're great sleepers. The Cosworth Merkur is a fast little car.

It looks like it's about to take on a Datsun? That's my only guess.

My cousin had a silver Merkur back in '89 or '90, when I was about five or six years old. I still remember riding in it, and thinking it was pretty cool at the time.

To answer your questions - the Merkur ran a best time of 15.26, and the other car is a 13 second turbocharged Mazda RX-3.

but with just a few mods a merk is down into the 13's easy. same engine as the svo stangs of the 80's, and from what i have heard those could do high 13's stock. The fastest one i have ever seen was in a muscle mustangs and fast fords mag and it was running 10's.
