#20, I'd like to think the viewing public might be learning to be a bit more credulous about the authenticity of such things, seeing as how the mainstream media barely mention them whereas "kook" sites are overflowing with supposed rock solid "proof".
Maybe we just don't trust the camera like we used to in a day and age when all creative mediums have gone digital and can seamlessly integrate with one another to create the best fakes we've ever been able to create, yet at the same time, no major news outlet seems willing to put such nonsense on the front page and prefer to brush it off on the back page where it belongs with the horoscopes and such.
A far cry from the infamous Gulf Breeze, FL UFO hoax where an attention seeker managed to convince a newspaper that his obvious double exposures of thrown pie-pans were "real" UFOs for almost 3 years.
If at first sight, any of the Ed Walter's "UFO" pics don't have you laughing at the amateurishness of them, something's wrong with you. |

#19, Despite all my best efforts - I still WANT to believe that Bigfoot exists and that he's roaming about around the western hinterland and in the Rockies. The proto-wookiee still wants to scare the 7 year old in my head from ever venturing into the woods.
But - I remain unmoved by the shit and sketchy evidence.
Bastard world! Conceiving of a hairy North American apealoid and then urinating onto my head for wishing it so. |

#22, I think on some level, a strong desire to WISH the paranormal was true keeps these things live, in spite of a total lack of hard evidence. This is especially in the case of Bigfoot, where the lack of evidence remains a deal-breaker to me, especially because the evidence remains just as scant as ever even as technology that should be able to find one if it existed, directly or indirectly, improves. Yet, the LACK of anything difinitive emerging is the greatest evidence that there's nothing to actually be found, the silence, as it were is deafening.
Even with infra-red cameras and hidden trail-cameras, nobody's ever gotten a conclusive picture
Even with satellite mapping that can read a license plate from orbit, nobody's ever found one, or a habitat where one left hoax-free evidence, skeletal remains, hair, bones, scat, etc. that should be obvious if they exist in the numbers required to have a breeding population that won't induce massive inbreeding or die off. |

Even though I pretty strongly doubt cryptid stories, I love hearing them, and seeing the photos. Maybe it's just the desire for a mystery. |
