Chevy did a better job with the SS than Pontiac did with the G8.

#1, Was the Chevy SS a better car than the Pontiac G8? Very good possibility... did Chevy do a "better job" with the SS than Pontiac did with the G8? I'd say no... the G8 actually had more effort put into it to differentiate it from the Australian original, and to make it "feel" like a Pontiac.

...Chevy simply slapped a bowtie on a Holden.

Put an SS interior in a G8 and then we'll talk.

I think the biggest reason these failed was the confusing name. Chevy has had an SS package on multiple vehicles over the years, and then suddenly they pop up with a car simply called "SS?"

Why they didn't sell these as the Chevelle is beyond me.

I think I've seen one of these exactly once.

#5, ...an elderly woman at my mom's church has one... I've also heard stories of little old ladies driving V-Series Cadillacs... I think it's because a certain subset of the population are convinced that a proper car has a V8, and in this day and age, only hard-suspension, high-performance cars have those engines...

I've seen four or five of them around.

#6, I saw a late model CTS-V the other day, driven by an older couple. With a stick-on hood scoop. I couldn't believe somebody would put one of those on a $90k car.

#8, That's the problem with Cadillac. Their $90K cars aren't finding their ways into the right hands - and the hands that do find them want Cadillacs from 40 years ago.
