Formatting edited to make this political rant harder to read. I was in a bad mood.

Well... my state is well and truly fucked. Our esteemed elected officials have done everything they can to sweep the numbers under the rug and we're becoming the new global epicenter of the disease.

I try not to get political, but God DAMN... for a long, long time, GOP voters have been voting against their better interests, in terms of economic stability and personal health... now the politicians they're supporting are actively supporting efforts that will KILL them... and they're following those pied pipers (not wearing masks of course) happily to their doom, confident they're "winning" against the evil opposing political party/views.

My two closest family members are now two-shot fully-vaccinated, and I'm on that track myself. Will still wear a mask, as there's still that 1-3% gap in efficacy, and I've gotten so used to wearing one, it's not a big deal... but now I'll feel more comfortable shopping, perhaps actually eating out at a restaurant, and (this is a big one) flying up north for my father's memorial service, which was postponed by a whole year. I'll be fully vaccinated, +2 weeks, by that point, thankfully.

Still in my current job. Stopped working remotely months ago. I have my own office, and my employer has enacted some pretty rock-solid social-distancing, sanitizing and PPE standards that almost everyone is following very well. I actually feel safe at work.

Not going out to eat, not going out to shop, heck, not travelling in general, has saved me a nice chunk of change... some of which I've used to do some "retail therapy" online, to retain some semblance of sanity. Wimbles is very familiar with the types of purchases I've been making... let's just say, I pretty much own almost every Tomica I've ever wanted now.

Tested positive Thursday, coming out of my five day quarantine tomorrow.

Without a doubt, the mildest flu I've ever had.

Managed to avoid it for over four years, but the 'rona finally caught up to me. Ugh. Feel pretty miserable.
