too much for an RX-7 even if it is a 3 rotor. Blows up too easy for $80k.

Ever heard of the 24 hour lemans? Well, in the late 80's and early 90's rotary powered cars dominated the LeMans. Engines that easily blow up would not dominate the le mans like that. They were so reliable and powerful that they were banned. So don't say rotaries are fragile. And this car also came i second in the C&D super tuner challenge only because it failed to reach 150mph, yet it got the second fastest acceleration, fastest in the track by 4 seconds and best lateral g. And this was the cheapest of the cars there.

dude. two words. apex seals. It's only 3rd gens such as this one that have those problems. 3rd Gen RX-7 wasn't around in the late '80s and early '90s. I said that $80k is too much for a car where you have to replace the engine every time you look at it funny. 3rd gen RX-7s are fragile, not all rotaries.

Yeah you say 3rd genRX-7 engines are weak, but this is not a 3rd Gen RX-7 engine, it's a 20b rotary engine probably from the mazda cosmo which i a different engine.

Remove the windshield lettering, the fart-pipe, and the SUPER CARS logo, and I would love this car.

That's not much of a fart-pipe. Look at the Car and Driver issue... it's not a fart-cannon

Got to love these cars, the sound that a rotary engine produces is awsome, to bad that the later models have had some problems.

I have seen that issue of car and driver, and what killed the RX-7's chances was its reliability. It was an impressive car, yet it could not stop breaking down.

It's really impressive but, I seriously doubt if it has that much torque. Even if it does though, to get that much power from a 2 liter engine you'd break it on a regular basis. I can also think of a lot better uses for $80k. If you wanted a car this fast there are more reliable and cheaper ways to do it.

lol, 500plus, you cant compare this to a regular 2-liter 4-cylinder...because rotories produce way more power from smaller displacement, its something like: you have to double the liters on a rotory engine to get its equivalent in a normal engine

yes, 500plus,you can build 50 big-block novas for 80 grand, right? but this car is VERY fast and is one of the best handling machines ever made...kinda a bargain for the 80k, isnt it?

I think so, the rotary essentially does 3 things at once (intake/compress, ignite, exhaust)
and while a 4 stroke has 1 explosion from 4 cycles, a rotary has 3 per cycle
...eh, I dont know, its complicated to compare a VERY different platform

It's cute, but a '65 GTO gets almost as much torque with 335hp.

thats cute as well, but the rx7 is an all-out track car, the gto does not even come close

Hey, now, the Goat could outperform the shit outta the RX7 with that kind of cash in it.
