One of the most oddball 80's designs I've ever seen, aside from maybe the Cadillac Seville |

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this was the first Amercian car to offer a fuel injected V8? Not like it was fast or anything though as it had 2.56 gears and 3 speed auto with a fixed pitch convertor. Just a piece of useless trivia at any rate. |

first fuel injected v8 would probably be the Corvette in 1958, I think. |

Ah yes. I stand corrected. Forgot about that one. I should have made the distinction that the car above was the first American car with electronic fuel injection on a V8. Sorry. There was optional mechanical fuel injection on the '57 Chevy as well. It was the first American angine to acheive 1 hp per cubic inch. It was a 283. |

my all time favorite would have to be the 1967 427 Stingray. Just perfect. I like the styling on the '80-'82 corvettes, but the performance was pathetic. |

The first engine to break the 1 hp per cube barrier was the Chrysler 300B in 1956. It was a 354 Hemi with 355 horsepower.
Of course, if you mean the first to actually MATCH 1 hp per cube, that would be the Chevy 283 fuelie in 1957, but that's hardly a milestone considering it was broken before it was matched. |
