#20, as long as it doesn't get two deep, and you don't have to go up a rather steap hill, RWD is just as good. last winter i had mine out in every snow fall we got and didn't once get stuck.

#25, if you know how to counterstear you can drive a RWD in the snow, simple as that

Point the wheels in the opposite direction as you're sliding, right?

the only reason i said #5 is because i meant that the front wheels are out of the mud, i didnt mean that rwd sucks or anything like that

#16 and #17 - i dont see what the big deal is about me saying something like "happy kwanzo" or "skinnies", i dont see how they are any worse than any of the commonly-repeated lines on this site like "i'd hit it" or "pwned", and if i dont say something pointless or stupid in the first post in freepost, then somebody else will

#30, well, i DO realize that if it was fwd it would have gotten stuck nose-first, i was just commenting on the way the car was IN THE PICTURE

and if you think about it, fwd would probably do better in this situation...if you hit this mud stream at like 25mph in a fwd car, the inertia would carry at least half the car out of the mud, making the back half stuck...then you can drive out...but in a rwd car the inertia would just get the back stuck

fwd - in general - give you more wet/snow traction since the engine weight is over the drive wheels. I personally like the steering characteristics of a well designed car with RWD over FWD. I drove a 2wd drive truck through some brutal brutal winters - you just have to be careful what you do - take it easy and know how to steer well.

For your average yutz, I can recommend FWD cars - for a car enthusiast - no.

#22, i drove my el camino through some really bad winters in NY state...and it has no weight in the back plus no limited slip, either...well, not exactly "drove"...it just kinda did donuts and slid and somehow ended up where i was supposed to go

#37, well, during really crappy days - I would put 250-400pds of sand in the back... and I always spent good money on the rear tires. Snow tires are even better.

I've only driven a FWD car in snow, and almost lost control many MANY times... barely came out of most of them...one of them I came within a few inches of the car in front of me.

the only way to counter a slide in a fwd car is to use the handbrake...that saved me quite a few times
