In car chase movies, they usualy have 1 for the close up and glamor shots, 1 specialy rigged for the stunt scenes, and 1 for the destruction scene at the end (usualy a junker that doesnt run or an empty body shell), with a backup for each. So there really is never THE car from the movie. |

If you notice in the movie the cars already pushin 8k Rs when he hits the button at 120mph. If he's doin 160 the cars prolly pushin something like 11k Rs.....can you say KaBloooie? Rods would go flyin. But it is just a movie and it is a great one. |

yeah, when will they learn that nitrous does JACK SHIT for your top end, it just lets you get there faster. also, the tach was indicating like 7 or 8 thousand RPMS when he hit it, which I don't get. 428 Cobra Jets, like most big blocks, were never particularly rev-happy. A formula 1 car can rev to 11k, but to try it anything else? boom. |

Speedos in those old muscle cars went up to 120, some even had a 140, then in the 70's they dropped them down to a "max" of 100. What fun is that? |

hell, a FURY (in the 50s) had a speedo that went to 120, and that was a boat... in the immortal words of Dennis Guilder, "Did cars ever go that fast?" He said that in '78, of course, when cars were lucky to hit 100. |

My Honda's speedo goes to 110, that's a joke, I've never been able to break 85 in it. Even with the gas pedal floored |
