4WD= All wheels constatly spin no matter what
AWD= All wheels spin, but if it detecs slippage, it gives more power to the wheels with grip and its electronicall controlled

(dammit its hard to type when your hands are numb)

4WD - front and rear axles spin using different gear ratios, need a plane of slippage so you don't ruin it. (otherwise you should be in 2WD [RWD])
