I'm loving the fact that a guy with a Cavilier is hating on V6 Mustangs. So what is theres a lot of chicks that drive them? There are just as many guys that drive V6 Mustangs to. I am one of them. Wanna know why? Because it was about 5 grand cheaper, saves money in gas, and is cheaper to insure. Not to mention that with less than 5k in mods, I could take out Cobra's with my little V6.

And for the record, Camaro's where ALWAYS cheaper than Mustangs when they where still being made. But they still couldnt sell them bcause they where unreliable, unsafe, and looked like ass.

#21, one camaros were not cheeper, unless your talking about the V6s (cause i dont have a clue on those). oh and sure you my beat a stock cobra with 5k in mods, but that cobra would wax your ass with just 2k

#21 what kind of mods will let you take out a cobra for under 5k? and who said camaros were unreliable or unsafe? maybe the newest-gen camaros looked weird, but the ones with the square headlights looked damn nice

#23, supercharger or turbo, but with a 5k budget the engines not going to last long

#24 a supercharger alone is almost all of that money, and i dont think just a s/c will put a V6 mustang into low 13's

#25, nah vortech base kits start around 2k for the 5.0, so i dont think they would be that much more for a 3.8

More often than not a Z-28 Camaro costed more than a Mustang GT. I know because I had a friend comparing the two of them. But the Vert Mustang costed more than the Vert Z-28.

As far as the cobra being modded and beating the V6 well no shit. But V6's simply arent the jokes everyone seems to think they are. They can be made to run very low 13's without NAAAWZ, on a very limited budget.

Camaro's have always been plagued with problems. Especially the earlier 4th gens. They got better right before they got axed, but it was to little to late.

As for the main mods needed to make the V6 run more respectable numbers for around around $5k, here ya go:
Better upper and lower intakes
Port and polish
new cam
larger throttle body
larger MAF
and one supercharger and intercooler combo.

There are some other goodies that should be added (a true dual exhaust system) but those are the main points.

I know all of you will call bullshit, but thats fine. I dont have anything to prove.

Oh and for the record that car above is just a f*cking joke. I'd like nothing more than to put a tire iron through those lights and kick that wing off. But dont hate on it JUST because its a V6.

#28, and i do think that would blow your budget, oh and for the record, most of the regulars here dont have anything agaist the 3.8, we would just rather start out with a V8

#28, oh and do they even make aftermarket intakes for the 3.8?

oh yeah, and...are the chevy 3.8 and the ford 3.8 similar? why did they both pick the same displacement?

Its possible with a $5k budget. But keep in mind I'm just quoting actual price numbers nothing that would include labor and such.

And yes there are aftermarket intakes avalible. Although they require some searching. For my car though, I'd probably just use the intakes off a 99+ model.

And to clear this up too, I'd rather start with a V8 as well. It was just beyond me means at the time.

#34, theres on problem with your mod list, no forged parts, which means engine go boom soon after you do that. also what year is yours, cause i would think if you can afford a new v6 that you could afford an older fox-body v8

I dont know what a n/a 3.8 (so no boring I guess) would make. But I could guess high 14's maybe with a 5speed and a good driver.

As far as the differences in the to engines, the Ford 3.8 makes about 193hp and 225 pound feet of torque (as of the 99 model..cause the 94-98 V6 Stangs are pathetically slow..to which I sadly own one) to the F-bodies 200hp and 225 pound feet of torque. I dont know why they picked the 3.8's so I cant answer that.

#37 a n/a 3.8 is a naturally aspirated 3.8 liter engine. in other words it has nitrous oxide, super chargers, or turbos. if it did then it would be FI or forced induction

#37 there's gotta be more parts for an n/a 3.8 to push it past high 14's, thats only half a second faster than a normal mustang V6

Well most of the forged parts are included with the better intakes and such. Although new pistons would be needed..you could wait a little bit of time to let your budject recoupe. Although some better springs for the heads would be needed and well as probably some better rods.
