#59, Should've explained it to the driver of that Fox-body I wound up next to at a traffic light. No exhaust, just headers, parachute mount on the back. Of course, if the police pulled him over, they'd probably have a heck of a time explaining it to him--he's probably deaf by now.

#61, But we have to get new licence plates every 5 years... because there happens to be that little problem of plates rusting away to nothingness in about a decade.

#64, Good point...I believe it's about $15... about $50 if you want a vanity plate. (I wanted one when I bought the car, just saying "DIRF", but was short of funds at the time...still short of funds...damn.)

#69, Well that's when you're getting a new plate, and not transferring one.

I had to spend about that much with the Crapi too, taxes and all that shit.

#71, The annoying thing about transferring title, registration, and all that is the ridiculous expense. You can spend nearly as much making a car legal to drive as you spent buying it in the first place.

I was watching Dante's Peak last night, in the background, during the evacuation scene, Pierce Brosnan's truck clips one on the highway... I yelled at the screen "DAMN YOU! I know a guy who could have used that fender!" everyone else looked at me funny

#76, Yeah, the movie was made in 1997, so it was one of about 20 to 30 stunt vehicles that got hit, tossed into rivers, crushed under light poles, etc.

I mean, the town's sheriff was driving a box-body Crown Vic around, you just KNOW he's going to buy it :)

Side-story...

Yesterday, on my way home from Best Buy, it was night time, and I saw a pair of FAMILIAR taillights...
I got closer, gee, that huge rear window look familiar...
OMG! It's another fox-body Capri!

I passed them, they looked at me, pointed, I gave a thumbs, up, and then I heard a growl and a rumble, and then a ROOOAAAAAARRRRRR as they rocketed past me... dammit, they had a V8 >_<.

#77, Disaster movies are always a car spotters field day.... I can even ID them after they've been burnt to a crisp...

"That's a GMC or Chevy Van"

"How can you tell?"

"It's got circular holes in the steel valence behind the grille, Ford's and Dodge's are square"

"You're just making that up!"

"I'll bet it has teardrop shaped taillight housings"

*looks* "Damn you"

#79, Same here.

With me, people aren't interested in the FACT that I can name cars so easily, but WHY I can name cars so easily...
