bah - manuals annoy me now - especially with all of the city driving I do... my entire car 'fleet' used to be 5-spds... now they're all 4-spd automatics...

I've bought three cars: two 5-speeds and one AT. I lost the tranny in the AT, but never had problems with my manuals. I prefer manuals, even though my office may be moving into the city next year. I'll probably get an AT then, though.

unless its for a big block, i doubt i'll ever buy/put in another auto. and the only reason for using an auto on a big block is its hard as hell to find non truck 4 speeds for 460s

autos are great for drag racing consistency... manuals have a higher fun factor though... but it's hard to juggle a cellphone/fast food/ and having a baby in the back seat with a manual. Autos are great for old married people with kids... like me!

I prefer manuals. I can see the benefit of an automatic in a car that has to be driven through stop-and-go traffic every day, and I can also see why you'd want a shift-kitted auto with a high-stall converter for drag racing use. It's still less fun than a manual. :-)

while I'd like it to be a stick when I buy a "fun car" it'll likely be an auto. why you may ask? only track near hear I know of is a drag strip
