#20, All I know is that I'd drive one. It looks like a very useable, practical car that would be cheap to maintain. ...and looking at its weight and power, it's performance would probably be very similar to my Mirage's, but with a tad more kick thanks to its torque advantage over the Mirage.

#20, Yugo was eyeing re-entering the market weren't they? I mean, with a a US front end to sell under (because the name Yugo is forever tarnished) I can't imagine they'd do that poorly, If I ever need a no frills commuter car, there isn't anything out there that's reasonable brand-new for what I'd pay

Honestly, I think if I was in that market I'd just get an old Volkswagen Fox. Or maybe something like an old Corolla or Sentra.

#23, If I could have had my pick for used econobox, I would have either picked a '90s Tercel coupe or a Toyota Potato...er... Paseo, which was basically just a rebodied Tercel. I like the way both of them look, and those things are as reliable as bricks.

But I'm happy with what I have right now.

#22, yep, but I think the planned return mark has already come and gone. thus I doubt we will see a new Yugo anytime soon.

#22, Problem is, with the relatively weak dollar, all the really cheap imported cars lose too much of their price advantage.

I'd still have my 85' Accord if it's clutch hadn't given up after a measly 200K :D Actualy, I'd probably get a seconhand compact truck, like a Mazda B series, or a S10 that's been cared for and not hod-rodded or trailbeaten, I do a lot of stuff I need cargo space for. If I was feeling really generous, I'd treat myself to a later 90's Ranger, but I'd never buy new, too much of the cost of the vehicle is just the privelage of being the first owner, and I'll let someone else take that hit

#27, The only vehicle I can see myself buying brand new in the forseeable future is a Kawasaki Ninja 250R... and that's probably a few years off. As of now, it's all used for me.

My extended family has had quite a few REALLY bad experiences with Escort wagons... my great-aunt, my grandfather, my step-mom...etc...

While we're on the subject of new cars, anyone else think that GMC commercial where the "rejected" designs from the drawing board just get tossed into an open field is genius? I do.

#32, Yeah, actually I like that commerical too. I despise the one for the Land Rover LR3: They play it constantly on CNN and that annoying tune gets stuck in my head for hours.

#37, Those things actually make for damn fine offroaders. My high school AutoShop teacher would regale us with stories of how he's go off-roading in his Thing, and be able to go places his buddies in K5 Blazers and Broncos couldn't go. ...and you can remove the windshield and doors very easily...uh... I don't know why that's good... just don't park it in harlem.

#38, Wouldn't matter if you did. It's not they had anything inside them you could steal, unless you wanted to try peddling a VW thing steering wheel on a streetcorner....
