Apparently they didn't. I believe this is a 242 with 164 front sheetmetal.

#9, I ran across an interesting picture of a 164-based coupe with a 262 roofline and vinyl top. Apparently it's inspired by the original 262 prototype which had a 164 front end. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1024...832662db6_o.jpg

#10, I've never liked the way the 262 looked (sorry, but that roofline with the squarish front end just does not work)... but with a 164 frontend, it actually looks good!
