#4, I like your thesis on global warming - basically I believe the same thing, that we are in a cycle and there isn't enough conclusive evidence.

Whenever I watch Nova on PBS, or Nature - I just wait for the 'global warming' punchline - seems to pop-up for just about any documentary...

World War II, Holocaust... uh, and global warming :p

Geez - nobody on that site has any words of encouragement for they're country's automotive industrial capacity. It's like they want to see it wither away.

#19, Yeah, some people have issues with defeat, I remember I raced this guy in a Ram supercab a while back, I was just horsing around but he started swearing at me and giving me the finger, what a turd.

But back to the point, I think one of the worst cars ever made was the 83 Mirada, I knew a kid who had one and it's rear end disintagrated after 100K miles.

#23, because America is evil...eeeviillll! Anything we do is always wrong. Walmart is evil, NASDAQ is evil, Democrats are evil, Republicans are evil... heck, your little sister is evil :p

We all must destroy ourselves to be purified - lol

#23, I don't know why so many of them seem to swear by any car that's Japanese and knock any car that's American. Have any of them ever driven a Mitsubishi? Or if you want to talk about poor quality, basically any Japanese car made prior to 1980 (with an exception for the Datsun Zs)?

#27, My dad's kinda like that, Except he only trusts Toyota. He used to have a Plymouth Volare wagon and it was a piece of shit.

#27, Just basic unAmerican sentiment methinks. I think all the gas prices, Bush bashing, Iraq war, and GM and Ford fuck ups have just made everyone hostile towards their homeland. If they lived in China, their fingers would get cut off...

#28, My grandpa has a 78 Aspen Wagon at his property upnorth, that POS slant 6 needs a new carb, hasn't run since I was in diapers...

#27, My question is if the US wants to remain compeditive in the global economy - they why are so many of it's people so eager to buy forein built products - only to complain when GM says they're going to close 9 plants and kill 30K jobs and some operations get outsourced to China or Korea?

And what about this?

"In the 1980s, Ford pick-ups were terrible because of their inefficient 3-speed automatics and variable-ratio 2-barrel carburetors. Poor gas mileage, poor performance and frequent overheating."

Then why are there so many still around? Granted, they did build a lot of them

"A Toyota 3.2L pulled as much as a 5.7L Ford."

And the bed would rust out in 5 years

#27, my '97 Merc Mountaineer seems to have held up better than the same year Altima - way less interior squeaking - and I haven't done a damn thing to it yet other than tires, air and oil changes. It needs new front rotors and a tune-up, but other than that I've been quite happy with the reliability

Now to take on the Pacer hataz:

I think the worst American car ever was the AMC Pacer. It was just the silliest looking car. No reason for anyone to like it. It was a big bubble, like a moon buggy. I always looked at it and shook my head.
—Harold Whinery, Jacksonville, Fla.

that's precisely WHY I like it. It was like a big middle finger to the conformist auto industry.

The AMC Pacer. If it wasn’t for Bill and Ted, no one would know about this car. My mother liked the view from the inside, but thankfully she bought a Camaro instead.

Waynes World you mean, and perhaps you are forgetting that people actually collect these cars

Everyone's only coming down on America b/c of it's lack of fuel efficient vehicles, they don't seem to grasp the concept that the new Mercury Milan and Chevy Impala both get around 30 miles to the gallon, and starting prices are the same as a new Prius.

If it wasn't for those damn towel heads I would probably have an engineering job right now, not that I don't love my current job but C'mon! I think all this restructuring overseas is bullshit, that dick head Bush needs to pull his head out his ass and take care of his people stateside! I know that establishing a government in the middle east is good and all, but let all those extremist fucks blow each other to kingdom come before you go overseas! Now I take a deep breath and relax...
