#18, True, I am lumping ownership and use together. To get a handgun legally in Canada is hard (illegally in toronto is a matter of money). Legal owners must take a course, get 2 signatures and be approved. Fucking right. Most people don't need guns and a lot of people with guns shouldn't have them. Canada is far from perfect but an inalienable right to own guns is stupid. Prove that you can/should, rock on. If not, go to the knife store

If you think about it, the people that own guns to kill are the people who don't own them legally, so laws won't do shit to change it

#20, take a course, have a lock, no violent record: gun it up. 2/3, go sharpen a stick. and stop selling knives that are designed to kill too.

No matter what, guns have, are, and always will be a big issue in the US. The way I see it, guns don't kill, people kill. Outlaw guns, and you'll just see more chainsaw, knife, strangling, etc. murders.

Im not sure about other places but if you have any sort of criminal record than you arent allowed to own a gun. If you are caught with a gun with a criminal record its a mandatory 15 year sentance in prison.

#23, I don't think 99.9% needs a gun. I like guns, they are cool. I like gun exchanges and more time for gun crimes.
and BTW canada's gun laws suck and are ineffectual.

#28, The Criminal Code of Canada bans certain kinda of knives with blades that are mostly used to cause fatal wounds to people (double edged, long blades, butterfly knives, etc)

The thing is, anymore, people just want to be gangsters and kill because they see 50 Cent do it. I don't blame media, and I don't think 50 Cent should be banned or anything, because that is dumb, I just wish people weren't so dumb and have to do things just because Dr Dre said to.

#34, something have a legitimate purpose and some dont. You can't just say that almost all knives cut so only spoons are legal. Some people should have guns if they can prove they can handles the BIG responsiblity. Crimes with weapons should have harsher sentences. No right is absolute and sometimes governments saying no is a good thing.

#37, I don't think that it should be prove you're able to own a gun, I think it should be prove that you can't handle it and we take it away. But the people that have been in trouble with the law can't purchase guns anyways.
