#19, Wow, better than average by 2 cars. I mean, who cares that there are 53 problems per 100 vehicles. Honda's only got 32. And once you consider that Acura is Honda as well, at only 21 per 100 you're averaging to Honda having literally half the problems that Hyundia does. |

2 cars above average may not be extremely impressive, but look at other makes. I don't see you
guys saying "What's the point of modifying a chevy or a pontiac, they are total crap". And 140hp
from a 2.0 liter is about average, but it sure as hell ain't a Beretta quad 4 making 180 and lasting
40 thousand miles, eh? Or maybe the 3.1 V6 making about 160. Or the 2.2 with 140. That's a
real powerhouse. :) Just remember what cars that generation of tiburon competed with, and what
their engines were. My point stands. It's a better vehicle to modify than a civic. |

#27, I don't buy it. I still routinely see rusting Hyundais that are nearly as old. All Hyundai is doing now is appealing to the public with fancy panneling. Fancy panneling that does not and should not excuse them from the shoddy products from the past. I don't allow it for the American cars - and I won't allow it for Korean cars - no matter how appealing they may look.
If Hyundai is serious - nobody rational would make snap calls on "how far Hyundai has come" on just a styling language refresh. If these cars are worth anything to shout about - we'll see what becomes of "the new Hyundai's" present day efforts in 10 years - not in 6.

#28, All I know is I've put about 3,000 miles on my mother's 2010 Elantra while she's been in Afghanistan, and it's a very impressive small sedan. My only complaints about it so far are a finicky ignition switch that doesn't always want to let the key go, and an unusal lack of torque (even for a small 4-banger) that results in the thing downshifting two gears and screaming all the way to redline under even moderate mid-range acceleration. Compared to her previous '07 Focus SE, it's far superior....especially since the Hyundai hasn't burst into flames yet. |

I still maintain that the '06 Elantra I test drove a few years ago was one of the most depressing automotive interiors I had ever been in.
Their styling has been EXTREMELY hit or miss for me... the new Sonata is NOT a "4-door coupe" like the M-B CLS or VW CC... it's a melted Camry. The Genesis looks nice, but that's about it for me. Don't even get me started on the swoopy abominations that are the Veloster, facelifted Genesis coupe, and Sonata hybrid ("a hybrid that's easy on the eyes" MY ASS)...
The new Accent and new Elantra are at least leaving me indifferent, with what appears to be a single overall styling idea... the previous Elantra just looks plain weird to me. It's like they were beginning with one styling idea, then, mid-project, tried to go "coupe-ish", but did it ham-fistedly, and then over-styled the headlights and taillights to compensate.
Now, KIA... THEIR styling I've taken a real shine to. They've got some nice stuff going on there. |

#31, The interior of the 2010 is probably its best feature....very comfortable, nicely put together, and nicely detailed. No hard plastic surfaces, either. It just feels like a quality car. I do agree on the exterior styling, though. |

Hyundai has been getting a surprising amount of press-fellatio from automotive pulications lately |
