I was already aware of this development... it is almost a certain that the Car of Tomorrow will have a wing.
http://riceornot.ricecop.com/comments.php?auto=46071

The car in this picture is NASCAR's own prototype of the Car of Tomorrow, driven by Brett Bodine (who is one of NASCAR's top official R&D people now, after retiring from being an owner/driver in the Cup Series in 2004)

Other NASCAR teams have built their own prototypes... Roush, Childress, Hendrick, Petty...

"The wing is a bolt-on aerodynamic piece that can be adjusted so the car's handling can be tailored to different tracks. It is just one aspect of the new design that will allow for reduced costs in the teams' overall car inventory."

how the fuck is it going to be any cheaper then the spoiler? you want tyo cut cost, don't make them buy/build all new shit when what they have now works fine. hell they might as well switch to fuel injection, OHCs, and IRS at the rate they are going. get rid of everything that made nascar what it is. #3...it hasn't been stock for many, many years... they all look the same except for very minor details, and the engins are nearly identical. The last time they were truely stock Dodge was banned from the track.

#4, The wing will be manufacturered exclusively by NASCAR itself, and distributed to the teams prior to the race weekend, where officials will carefully scrutinize the wings throughout the weekend to make sure they haven't been tampered with in illegal ways. The wings will pretty much be dealt with like the restrictor plates are.
