I dont like it or hate it. I think that hood scoop is most of what is making it look cheap. The fact that it doesn't connect to the hood properly isn't doing it any favors. |

The reverse scoop is for some kind of low-pressure air intake thing. Quite a few people I know with front mounts on their Rexes have done it. Still dont get why though...the way I see it, air goes in either way. |

#7, cowl induction. high pressure builds at the cowl. the engine compartment has a lower air pressure, so air is almost sucked into the IC |

#9, how do you figure that? WRxs come with top mounted IC's. it can do that because of the motors boxer design. |

I'm pretty sure #8 has the theory down, but I'm really not seeing the point on a WRX. I'm not sure how the hot air would go from low pressure to high pressure. My thinking is, having the scoop facing either way wouldn't really make a difference to the air being drawn in...but i could be wrong... |

#11, engine pic. No top mount, piping for a front mount.
And yeah, I'm a Subaru fanboy.

air would naturally collect there beacause of the cars motion. the air has inertia and doesnt want to move. think of the windsheild like a bulldozer going through sand. and this scoop is like a hole where the sand can go instead of the bulldozer. |

#15, But wouldn't air be sucked in anyways if the scoop was facing the front? |

#17, yeah, but im sure itd be more detrimental drag wise than a cowl. |

#16, He was most likely just building a high scoop to clear the boundary layer of air and to suck cool air right into the intake manifold instead of an TMIC |

#19, That kinda makes sense. Still not something I would do though. But other than the dodgy scoop, I'm actually quite liking this car... |
