I see your problem then. This is true. You could have swapped front brakes. But that would have been a monster PITA, to get the Ford brakes on the Chevy suspension bits.

Well, that's a good reason to keep them, I suppose.

The 12-bolt has worked out nicely for me, but I do see your point. It doesn't help that they're cheap as can be, while 12 bolts for cheap are hard to comeby. But the 12 bolt is plenty strong.

I just caught up with the posts here, and now that I think about it, there's nothing wrong with 454 badges, but why ruin the great sleeper image you got? No one expects a fast GMC! for cryin' out loud~

That's why I'm probably not going to do it. I have a huge aversion to vinyl that people aren't paying me for anyway.

Yeah, with the HP and torque you're pushing, the 12-bolt will do you fine. I just had a hard time understanding why you'd swap a perfectly good 9-inch out for one. But now I see. I still disagree, but you had some good reasons.

Hey, I've still got the 9-inch. It's a backup rearend, in case I ever break my current one. (REAL car guys understand backup parts.) I suppose I could always get some wheels redrilled, but that would involve spending actual money. That's partially why I love this truck. My total investment, including the stereo, and both engines that I have owned, is less than $7500.

Good bargain there. That's part of what I love about my Mustang, too... it's a Ford, and Ford has massive parts interchangeability. I've got parts out of Broncos, Granadas, Versailleses, Torinos, late-model Mustangs, and a bunch of other junkyard coolness on my car. Keeps it cheap.

What part did the Bronco donate? I'd love to hear how a truck part ended up in a fast car.......

I can tell you about a whole lot of fast car parts that ended up in a slow truck on this thing here.

Why, none other than the heart of the beast itself, the 351 Windsor block!

really. I've got a 351W lying around, I've been meaning to think of something to do with it. I got it out of a bronco for $25.

Swap it into that Granada. And I think mine was something like that. Gotta love the junkyards.

now, you may ask, "oh, CRXtrackguy, god of autocrossing and big trucks, HOW did you get a 351W for $25?" The answer's easy. It was seized up. It works now, I just poured oil through it for about 2 weeks, and then rebuilt it. Works fine now.

He he, my Dad's current project car is being built on a 350 SBC he got for $50, if you know what you are doing, blocks are cheap, short blocks and finished engines are EXPENSIVE!!!!

I could put it into the granada, but that would involve either selling it to my dad (no way he's getting a working Windsor for free) or helping him put him in, which would probably involve lots of shouting and fistfights. (We do everything but work together fine. When we work together, anger rises quickly.)
