#6, IMO this whole 500USD idea is pretty odd. Take my junker for example. I bought it for 250USD. There's no way in fucking hell you can buy a race seet, harness, helmet and get even the simplest cage put in for another 250USD. Now, let's continue. We are taking about 24 hours of racing non stop. So all fluids and filters would have to changed. Also the tires (unless you bought the car with new rubber), the old ones would fall apart 1/4 through the race, or earlier. And even with that stuff done, a real junker (like my car) would not finish the race. I don't believe it would survive running non-stop for 24 hours, no way. Junkers are simply too 'tired'. |

#7, Damn, I meant suspicious, not odd. In most forms of amateur racing, the cost of safety equipment is a major part of the budget. Just a full homologated driver's suit (helmet, balaclava, tshirt, pants, overalls, gloves) costs around 1500USD. Homologated race seat costs around 500USD, a simplest cage (FIA appendix J minium... but racing with a minimum cage is not a very good idea) costs another 1000$ or more. |

#6, It was car and driver. I have the issue. I think I remember reading the car was an ebay score.
