There's one in Poland. THERE IS NO WAY to tell it from the original, until you pop the hoof of course. It features all body mods from the Evo, complete interior, wheels, brakes, ride height matches perfectly. And it's a 1300cc.

#4, Because pre-VII Evos were not sold in America... and we have some of the strictest importation laws for vehicles.

#6, Our country has an antiquated restrictions system on how to sell cars in America... it was developed to try to help keep our domestic automakers protected from a surge of imported vehicles... so we require different standards for headlights, windshields, emissions, safety, etc... so that if a foreign nameplate wants to sell their cars here, they have to heavily modify them from their home market to sell them here.

For high-performance vehicles like the Evo and WRX, the companies just said, "Well fuck it."... until recently.

The same goes for specially importing a foreign-market vehicle into America.. it's almost impossible to do that and have the car be street legal (some cars are imported simply as track cars / race cars, but can't be driven on the street.)

I say, our domestic automakers have been protected enough, just require what passes muster for EuroNCAP safety and emissions standards, and open up the floodgates so we can get some great cars here!

It's the real thing - it was tested in Compact Sport or whatever that magazine is called about a year back.

#8, The funny thing is, the government has raised CAFE standards in an effort to force automakers to provide us with more efficient cars... if they would just back off on the dumbass unnecessary restrictions, we could have TONS of much more efficient vehicles on the market.

The entire market of Japanese keicars would be WONDERFUL for drivers in heavily developed urban areas and inner-cities...

i've always wondered, what keeps us from registerring cars in states (such as Ohio) that have no inspection laws? i'm sure it goes deeper than that, right?

#12, Well you can't *register* a vehicle that doesn't have a legal US VIN number... but I don't see why people in non-inspection states can't just find, say, a junked Mirage sedan, grab the VIN off it, and use that VIN to register an Evo IV. It'd take a sharp-eyed cop that knows cars to catch you.

I still think America needs to adopt Canada's red-tape-slashing-dealy, where if a car is 15 years old or older, it's fair game to import, no strings attached... but hell, for me, I'd bump it up to only 10 years old or older. People would be able to buy an R34 next year that way :P

#15, haha. I agree there. I do think that the CAFE standards have to do with it, somewhat. I also think that if we were allowed to import cars here, just think of how many dumbasses would beg thier parents to buy them a Skyline or other hot JDM car and kill themselves in a wreck. Also.. if someone stole one of those cars, and police tried to chase them, they wouldn't be able to keep up.
