With the risk of being crucified, I think this looks alright.

#1, i do agree, but they're far too damn expensive.
theres one that recently arrived in my lil town dealer, canadian sticker price: 50,000 CAD.

It looks like a giant cross between a 1st-gen Scion xB and a BMW Mini Clubman... but it actually doesn't look like garbage.

At least they decided not to go with the "Fairlane" name. Flex is mindless marketing BS, but at least it's not shitting on a vintage established name, nor is it an alphabet-soup name.

What market does this appeal to? At first I figured it would be all those trendy city-dwelling 20 somethings that Scion has been enjoying sucking money out of recently. But if it's as expensive as D_o says then I can't imagine anyone outside of the baby boomer, upper-class family crowd being interested.

#4, That mostly seems to be the market for Scions, so it might be a decent move.

#4, I see more scions being driven by the elderly than anything else

#5, The upper-class family and baby boomers around here seem to be interested mostly in minivans and trendier mid-size SUVs like the Enclave and Acadian. Scion seems to market towards those who normally don't drive cars. This is just what I've observed in and around the Motor City.

#6, I think this might come across as too contemporary for older people.

The local Ford dealer said this is supposed to be aimed at the Expedition crowd. Even he was puzzled as to who it's aimed at. This one was about $40k USD.

I guess that these are good on gas (respectively), but $40K? I guess it'll hinge on how much are soccer moms, or whoever, willing to spend to green up the environment.
