#33, My sister drives one of those. It isn't bad, but I can't imagine being an Escort enthusiast. It just feels somehow wrong. :-)

Altimas are not bad cars, and I like the new ones (especially the 3.5L). However, I don't like them when they've been bodykitted, especially with these stupid EVO-lookalike front bumpers.

#40, no, a perfect world would be you and Ford not calling the ZX2 an Escort

#41, I'm the furthest thing from an Ecsort enthusiast, trust me. 99% of them made were total POS's.

#44, So I guess your escort happened to be that magical 1%?

Runs perfect at just under 70K. Mine has a Contour engine anyways, less problematic.

#46, I never said that

I like all cars. Mostly really fast Sedans (E55, M5, S6, etc)

#46, Who calls all cars trash? We only call cars like the one above "trash".

#47, My sister's has around 90K on the 2.0L SPI engine. Runs fine; idles slightly rough, but I expect that. Probably needs the timing belt replaced before too much longer.

Jurrell, you're more like me.

Most of the people I see on here talk trash to any vehicle with a mod on it...

I bought a 1997 altima for myself a few years ago. 150hp with a 5spd - it wasn't 'bad'. But I never really liked the car that much. I gave it to my wife to drive and went back to my old Nissan truck at the time since I felt better driving that. The altima was certainly faster than the truck - but it just was cramped and uncomfortable. Mileage was 'ok' - but my old '86 Honda Accord was better in mileage and leg room!

I should have bought a '97 Buick LeSabre at the time... about the same mileage, more hp and more room. About the same price too with depreciation.

I now do not have the Altima or the nissan truck. No more cramped 4-bangers!

#52, Mileage? What's that? :-)

I get ~22-23 MPG (not bad, IMHO, but not economic, either) and I still don't have much power..

ed: Ironically, I think my father's 'Vette gets better fuel economy than my car, and he's got 1.5X the displacement.

#51, Man, you just don't get this site at all. Mods don't make a car trash. Tasteless mods do that. Hell, I love modding. I mean, my car has a lot of mods (with a lot more to come) and they like my car. Check it out here 20811

#55, not too much dif in the 1st or 2nd gen other than body style. Same engine, etc. Nissan lost sales with the second gen. I picked the 1st gen since it doesn't look as fuglee. Should have got a Maxima... but oh no - that's what I get for being a cheapskate at heart.

Altima = secretary car.

#57, Maximas have some major disadvantages, in my opinion. I've never driven another Nissan (besides a Sentra I test-drove a few years back), but the automatic transmissions were actually too easy to force to downshift ("kickdown"), and the engines were finicky--my mother's '96 would only run properly on premium unleaded, and there were some brands of that it didn't like.
