y-pipes aren't for dual conversions. its for "freeing" up exhaust flow from the two banks to the single outlet. the power gained being worth the money is up to you to decide :P |

Oi!
I havent doen enough exhuats work to know everything so im getting somewhat confused and im gonna shut up now...
My problem with y pipes is that i see them on cars with single exhuast and people try to make their car look like it has dual exhuast and i annoys me like nothing else... |

okay man..... y-pipe goes from two, to one...not from one to two? do you have it yet?? i have never done exhaust work EVER... a system that has dualies is called a crossover, and usually goes to two mufflers after the cat |

the monte carlo ss came with a y-pipe. Each side of the V8 had an exhaust manifold that connected together with the 'Y' pipe into one catalytic convertor... then the exhaust would be split again after that for 'dual' exhaust.
of course the best mod you can do is to go true duals with headers... |

'cuz one catalytic convertor + piping is cheaper than two cats (at least back in the 80s). |
