Daewoo owns SsangYong.SsangYong sells a car that is basically a facelifted outdated Mercedes Benz S class... they bought the old tooling and the rights to the design when M-B redesigned the S class. I'm guessing this is somehow related...

Then daewoo bought Lotus. Then GM bought Daewoo, then they got called GM Daewoo, then they went broke...

#7, I was never aware that Daewoo bought Lotus...I thought Lotus was still independent, even though they do a lot of outsourced suspension/engine work for various manufacturers...

I know Kia bought the rights to the out-of-production Kia Elan of the early '90s...they mildly redid the bodywork, and put a Sephia engine in 'em, and called 'em the Kia Elan...

#9, Yeah, but the motoring press would have picked up on it, and I haven't even heard a WHIFF of anybody buying Lotus, let alone DAEWOO...

I'd love to see someone take a W140 S-Class and graft one of these grills onto it :P

#8/#10 Holy fuck I was way off... I was correct that Daewoo didn't own Lotus at any point, but Lotus hasn't been "independent" since fucking 1986 >_<
