A Firebird is a Trans Am damnit. Almost all 2nd gen Firebirds/Trans Ams had the phoenix on the hood. The fender scoops are fake, yeah. But they're stock. Look at the mustang. It's got them. Corvette? Comeon. Dont be picky.

dude, a TA is always a firebird, but a firebird is not always a TA. True the fender scoops are fake, but the shaker scoop sure ain't. Its feeding a Pontiac 455 for gods sake. Talk about stump pulling torque. Oh and about the bird on the hood, im rather sure that only TAs got that. Damn thats a sweet car.

Actualy, the extractors (fender scoops) WERE Functional in the early years, they were wind tunnel tested by Pontiac as a way to get the engine to suck cooler air up from the ground, on later TA's they and the shakers were just for show.

Are you sure Clint Eastwood owned this car? It looks an awful lot like the one he drove in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot.

The pic I got is from a TA site that says "he owned" it, but I don't know if that means just for the movie, there's a whole sub-page off of Tachrev.com that has a listing of moives the TA has appeared in, and this was just one of them, didn't have a really big write up.

READ THIS!!! 10 American nameplates won't be seen after this year...and they missed the ones that really SHOULDN'T be made anymore. Stupid pansies in SUV;s ruined the car industry.

Yeah, the Suzuki Esteem, Prizm, and that hideous Lincoln truck that lasted a whole 2 years. But the Camaro, Firebird, Eldorado, Prowler, Continental, and Oldsmobiles are some of the best cars America HAD. The Cougar was ruined a few years ago, that doesn't sadden me as much as the others. BUT THIS SUCKS.

hasn't been a REAL cougar since '73. The blackwood was a terrible idea, they only made it for one year, and I was never a fan of that oldmobile.

Have you ever driven an Intrigue? I have. Luxury with a kick. They were great cars.

I hope that the Cougar goes back to its roots if it's ever made again--as an upper trim version of the Mustang or something.
