#78, *rollseyes* Yeah and I'm sure you guys love the wing on WRX STi and the Evolution since they were designed that way. Factory altezzas must be ok too. |

#79, and to people in thr 60s, the winged cars would have looked about the same. |

#78, The wing cars were a case of form following function
Engineers were given the following task - Take a current Mopar powerplant, the 440 or the 426, and put it in a package that will allow it to beat the more powerful Fords on the superspeedways
The result was a car that did that task so well it was declared illegal, but looked really goofy |

#60, yes realist is indeed a real word, however the NSX comparison is flawed: the cobra rs are built as "factory racers" that the vast majority never see the track is a shame but is to be expected with cars with such small production numbers. much of the assembly could have been done on a line, however because of the engine that's not designed to be in there there is more then likely work to be done that can't be done on the line. and I can't imagine modifying an existing line or even createing a new one for 300 cars would make the car cheaper. and when you take into account the parts made specificly for said car the price adds up, for example the FR200 cost around $200,000(IIRC) to build yet the estimated cost if mass produced was $13,000 (for the horrendous body kit and all the parts), a V8+RWD converversion for foci used to be around $70,000 total but with ford mass producing a kit it could theoreticly be done for less than $30,000. |

#77, Not all wings but there is such a thing as factory rice. And yes Ford is capable of it too. |

#81, When did we say that we loved those? I think they're frigging ugly too, but hey - not rice, since it's designed that way. Ricer-inspired, perhaps, but not rice. |

#82, pretty much the truth. there was one in this area when my dad grew up here...he'd see it every day. to him and kids his age it was the ugliest thing they could do to a muscle car. (Note: i'm not a fan of the R either...but it is for richies with too much money to spend and a facination with mustangs). |

I think I get it, Dave: If this thing was a Chevy you'd be worshipping its exhaust fumes, or at least not so fanatically bashing it. |

#65, Obviously I worded my posts in that thread poorly, your presence does not annoy me (if it did I wouldn't talk to you) the frequent "come ons" that DiRF was posting got old after awhile |

#84, Well whatever the reason I can't fathom a Mustang costing that much damn money. Even if I was rich and liked Mustangs I'd just build up a 2003 Cobra. Has normal factory amenities and looks a ton better. Nothing remotely ricey. |

#92, you enjoy working on cars though. rich people that buy these generally don't, or they want to make it even better with this as a starting point. |

#92, and i would be willing to bet the supercharger would make it illegal for a factory stock class WHICH IS THE POINT OF THE R |

#95, Why is that? Isn't the 2003 Cobra a factory stock car? That doesn't make any sense. |

#94, Actually I don't. I hate doing it. A mechanic does all my dirty work. I just don't have the patience. |

Yeah, I already read that, and I'm not sure if I believe it. So the Cobra R was expensive (it was a limited production racecar for street, of course it would cost a lot) and it had an ugly wing. It's hardly the first, yet I've never seen you so venomously and smart-assedly argue over another vehicle. |
