It is a Cavy. What where the ones that Caddy did back in the 80s? They where some kind of Chevy Econo box that they slaped Caddy badges on. |

#6, Um, this ain't a Cavy. I believe it's based on the Opel Omega platform that also served as the basis of Holden's Commodore, but it's definitely not a J-body.
You're thinking of the Cimmaron or something, which was indeed a rebadged POS. |

#7, Ah, here we go.
"Targeting younger customers inclined to favor European styling, Cadillac introduced its version of European automotive luxury in 1997, the Catera. Built in Germany and based on the German Opel Omega MV6, Catera was developed by engineers in both the U.S. and Europe." |

Cadillac Cimarron = J-body platform (Cavalier, Sunbird, Cimarron, Skyhawk(?), some Olds thing). Even though the body resembled a Cavalier, it had completely reworked suspension, and towards the end of its run had a V6 with plenty of power. But its image as being a "rebadged Cavalier" hurt it too much.
Cadillac Catera = Now THAT was basically just a rebadged car, but the original car, the Opel Omega, was actually quite a nice car to be based on. V6, RWD, well-designed suspension. |

Today - it's known as a Holden Monaro/Pontiac GTO.

Because obviously younger customers have $30,000 burning holes in their pockets. :P No wonder it flopped. |

#11, $30K holes in their pockets, with which they were expected to buy blandly styled 200hp cars that weighed nearly 3800 lbs. Yep, that's the pulse of America right there. :-P |

#18, The scary part is that either comparison would be closer than the Catera vs. Monaro one. At least those two cars are basically the same bodystyle as the one we compared them to. :-P |
