I was referring mostly to your apparent affinity for the ellipsis, that wonderful symbol that results when you keep banging the '.' key with whatever appendage you happen to prefer. Thanks for actually typing a reply in English, though; it was far better than your previous comment.

Also, I did not forget the word "as"; its inclusion was not necessary. I would have included it if I wanted to say, "run a car with the same profile as that one in NASCAR," or something similar.

The Charger Daytona was a homologation special, not a look-alike built to cash in on racing success.

#24, Thanks. That's basically what I meant.

How literally did they take the homologation rules back then? I know that now, stock cars only bear a superficial resemblance to their road-going brethren, but they enforce compliance with the rules by ensuring that the cars match up to a set of specified templates, thus staying within the expected aerodynamic parameters. Obviously they considered homologation more strictly back then, but I'm still not sure of its extent.

#25, I'm not really the best person to ask, but the impression I've gotten (mainly from reading Mark Donohue's book) is that they had a lot more leeway for modification than they did in, say, the early 50s -- but the cars were still modified street cars, i.e. not purpose-built tube-frame cars.

#9, It's a rear diffuser. That's how you get ground-effect downforce out of a flat-bottomed car (i.e. F1, Le Mans, and just about everything else except CART and a few national single-seater series). By increasing the volume of the air under the car at the back while maintaining the same velocity, you decrease the air pressure under the car and suck it downward, thus gaining loads of downforce.
It works very well on F1 cars (who I'm told get 30-40% of their downforce from the diffuser), but unless this is some sort of street JGTC car, it must just be for show here.

Incidentally, the rear diffuser is the reason race cars leave such a long rooster tail when it rains.
