#19, Also, didn't you read the line "We spend more than most of the rest of the world put together on education and still come in like 27th."

So you can't back up your argument, and you've resorted to vulgar namecalling...that will help your case.

"ever here of FEDERAL AID dipshit?:

My reply is still "We (the FEDERAL GOV'T) spend more than most of the rest of the world put together on education and still come in like 27th." Poor city kids can learn just as well if the parents would take part in helping them learn. That just doesn't happen much anymore, parents don't care and a lot don't have very high moral standards. The responsibility of teaching our kids is not the President's, it's the parents'.

#24, How do you define "high moral standards"?

I'll define "low" instead...and how they relate to parenting...

Ignoring your kids (including letting tv babysit them), doing drugs, not teaching them responsibility and values, not making sure what they learn is true (goes along with teaching them right/wrong).

If you sit down and show interest in your kids schoolwork, and teach them a good work ethic through responsibility, any kid no matter how poor can learn and make something of themselves. It doesn't cost money to be a good teacher.

People who blame the government for their child's problems or their own when they haven't done all that they can do to help themselves get no sympathy from me. That's like the women who keep having babies with anyone just to get the bigger welfare check, or people who live on unemployment when they're physically able to work.

That's the problem with the Democrats' way of thinking, "if we give them more money and pay for them to stay in the position they're in, that's great. God forbid they work hard and help themselves."

Honestly, as I've pointed out, I don't like extremists from either camp.

Liberals think that none of us should be wealthier than middle class, that all of our taxes should go toward education and paying already overpaid, dumbass policemen. Also, the fact that there are more black people in prison isn't indicative of the values of modern black culture, but it's a grave injustice, because racial minorities are always less violent than white people. They're just better.

Conservatives on the other hand have this bizarre "Leave it to Beaver" view of "the good old days" before mandatory prayer was taken out of school and people stopped wearing suits and ties to mow their lawn, and that somehow we should go back to those days, even if it means having the government listening in on your phone calls (and if you question that, you aren't a patriot).

#33, uh - so terrorists shouldn't get their phones tapped? Tapping still requires a court order last time I checked.

...and if you're not doing anything wrong, why are you so worried if the government is looking for terrorists.

Freedom isn't necessarily FREE.

#35, You did not just say that. One of the most important components of "freedom", in my mind, is the freedom from unreasonable search and seizure. Intrusion into what would normally be considered a reasonable expectation of privacy is a search, and anything they find is a seizure.

Claiming that we shouldn't be worried about getting caught if we aren't doing anything wrong is so incredibly naive it's not even funny.

Not that I'm supporting it, but we all need to cooperate a little and MAYBE make some sacrifices to help put an end to, or at least minimize the terroristic threats we now face. It's not the 1960's where we can all smoke pot and sing about peace, we live in a different era and we need to conduct our lives accordingly. I'm against all-out searches and intrusions, but if you are doing something that looks fishy, you SHOULD be checked out no matter what color you are or what social class you belong to. Not everyone should be a suspect, but all suspects need to be dealt with.

Everyone has this attitude, "I can do what I want and the government has no right to know..."

Well, that was allowed to take place and look where it got us. People flew planes into buildings.

#38, I can't help but think that the terrorists have, in a way, already won because they've caused us to compromise our freedoms in the name of securing ourselves against them.
