An awful lot of money. I could get a really nice sportscar AND a pontoon boat for that much.

#3, No doubt. I want a drug-runner boat. Those things are fast, and you can get them cheaper at police auctions.

I'll pass on the boat altogether and just stay on the land. Keeping gas in any decent-sized boat is soooo expensive.

My parents just traded up (haven't seen their new boat in person yet) to a ~37' boat. I think it has dual 454s (!).

#6, It's annoying--they've got twin bigblocks and I don't even have a single smallblock. :-P

#9, As far as I know, it's a SeaRay 370. I don't know which model line, but I'm guessing "Sundancer". I think it's a late-90's boat, like 97 or 98. Can't say I've paid much attention because I hate boating.

At any rate, it's rather large, uses "V drives" instead of outboards or I/O type engines, and (if I recall correctly) has a total of 700+ hp. Which it needs, since it weighs a lot.

Oh, yeah--before that they had a SeaRay Sundancer 290 ('95 model, I think). Had twin 4.3L Chevy V6's with 4-barrel carbs. And before that, a Bayliner (2655?) 26' boat with a single 5.7.

Interestingly, the vast majority of small marine engines I've come into contact with are heavily modified Chevrolets.

#13, None of it go-fast stuff, though. All sport-cruiser boats. And it's really funny, because the larger the boat they get, the fewer people routinely go on it. When we had the first one, the whole family often went boating. When we had the second one, only my sister went with my parents (I usually stayed at home). Now, only my parents boat anymore, and they've opted for the comedy overkill option.

i love boating, my friends dad had a Baja Hammer with a 454 in it. it only went 74mph but on water it seems like 120

#16, I think Mercruiser mostly just makes contracts with Chevrolet. The other major popular manufacturer of "small" boat engines is Volvo.

#15, I've never been in anything quite that fast. My family's owned mostly heavier watercraft designed for cruising. They usually top out before 40 mph.

#19, its a blast, ive been 100 on the water in a Fountain ocean racer. it was 40' long with 3 454's and took an F-650 to pull it but you would never tell once you got on the throttle
