#24, A V8 that sucks lotsa gas is cool in a sports car, because it has a purpose, it makes the car fast. A big V8 that struggles to move a 3 ton idiot box isn't. |

#8, "and it certainly won't crush a smaller car in an accident."
even though i'm neutral in the whole SUV issue - i can't accept that statement. I can't see myself taking a smaller car for improved fuel economy and lower insurance over driving a car with paper thin doors and plastic everything. I feel that with drivers bering more and more courageous with smaller cars (ricers) - sooner or later more and more disastrious accidents will occur. My larger boat of a car might not go fast - get equal gas mileage - and make an embarrasing hole in my wallet for insurance i have to pay for it - but that little extra bit in size might just save my ass in an accident (tough shit for the other fuckers)
I'm kind of a safety nut. I'd drive a Volvo if i was so inclined - but i'm not that far off because i landed in camp GM. |

#28, The doors in my MR2 are certainly not "paper thin" in fact, it's a common problem among these cars to have sagging door hinges as the doors themselves are so damn heavy. Believe it or not but those doors are heavier that almost any Detroit made car I've ever ridden in. Also, just as someone else on this board said earlier, I'd rather avoid an accident than survive one. And as I myself have said, you can die walking to your car in the driveway, so you may as well enjoy yourself, if that means driving a small car, so be it. |

#29, i wasn't refering to your MR2 in any respect and I have no clue where this "sagging door hinges" came from. |

#31, the small ones i've been in felt "paper thin".
an MR2 isn't one of them unfortunatly - but that's the reason. MR2's can be made very fast - and when a small car mid-engined car is made fast - then i'll take safety out of the equation. |

#33, I'm not definding SUVs as I have no desire to talk to a wall and you've obviously got your mind set, I was mearly pointing out the flaw in the logic |

I will throw out that a friends '69 F100 was rear ended by a cavy and mearly scrached the pain on his bumper while the cavy's hood opened like a tin can though

Having driven the cars I've driven, I must say that riding in a Honda Civic is enough to scare me half to death. I can't really sit in one of those and feel comfortable that I have a chance of surviving a wreck with anything larger than a tricycle. (Regardless of what their collision ratings may or may not be--sitting in something that small and flimsy-feeling just makes me nervous.) |

#36, when I was exploring diffrent shops at Freshman year in a Vocational School 7 years ago a teacher there had a Ford Torino Elite and he was talking about one time when he got rear ended by a newish Buick I believe and the whole front of the buick was destroyed and the only damge to his car was a bent plate |
