No. Fuck the new Star Wars movies. Nothing can ever touch the original's genius.

I wasn't really impressed by the trailer.

I'm looking forward to Episode III. I agree, nothing can touch the originals (and I mean the true originals... not the re-released garbage)... but Episode III does look pretty good.

Episode IV was awesome.
Episode V was almost as good, but since the ending was open, leading to Ep. VI, it didn't feel "complete."
Episode VI was as good, if not better than Ep. IV
The Special Editions of the original 3 were decent, didn't really ruin them for me, didn't improve them that much either.

Episode I sucked motza balls.
Episode II was good enough to where I didn't have to check my watch every 5 minutes...
Episode III looks like it might actually be good.

...and as a sidenote, I will never forgive George Lucas for the way he's handling the pre-production of the fourth Indiana Jones movie... Harrison Ford and Speilberg are doing everything they can to make the movie good, and Lucas is trying to interject his stupidity at every turn.

#4, I'm noticed that on the IJ movie as well. The Indiana Jones trilogy was already great, and it would be *very* easy to screw up the fourth one. I can just imagine Indiana Jones Espisode 1: The Nazi Menace. >_<

#5, Well, one of Hollywood's most well-respected scriptwriters wrote a preliminary script for the fourth IJ movie...
Harrison Ford read it, absolutely loved it, would love to be attached to the project.
Speilberg read it, thought it was amazing, and would have no problem putting up a lot of money to produce it.

George Lucas? Read it and fired the scriptwriter.

#6, I remember that. What's the current status on IJ4? I haven't heard anything recently.

#7, Pretty much dead as a doornail thanks to Mr. Lucas.

George Lucas was a special effects genius back in the '70s, and just happened to get lucky with the first Star Wars movie, with the next two just drawing on that success... he's not a good writer or director. He couldn't write his way out of a wet paper bag.

#1, Then you might not like this:
"Here's what we've been told officially about the upcoming live-action TV series from Lucasfilm. "
100 episodes
1 hour each
based on a spinoff character
Lucas will direct first season
write season one at one time
film season one at one time
takes place between ROTS and ANH

I fear that this movie is going to plainly suck.
Lets face it: Todays computer-graphics are good enough for Warcraft3 cutscenes, but in movies they cant make it on their own. A science-fiction/fantasy movie needs meticulously shaped miniatures, insanely detailed matte-paintings and carefully crafted costumes to work.
IMHO, Lotr set new standards for this genre, being a sort of retro (relatively) low budget production.
There are other examples for this: Pitch black was low budget, had a limited amount of CG-effects. And it worked. Riddick was full of CG and it sucked. Look at Terminator3. The film worked because when that crane smashed through that office building, I KNEW that they were actually breaking stuff, hellyeah!
The new starwars-series is lacking ...love, dedication. Look at Gollum vs. Yoda. It was a pain in the ass to get that Gollum guy right, but it worked. Yoda on the other hand is stuck with his single "taking a painful dump"-facial expression. Even ALF could act better.

#12, I agree. CG is fine when used creatively, but it's all-too-often used as a bailout by lazy filmmakers. Anybody remember the CGI Corvette crash from the beginning of Along Came a Spider? Absolutely awful.

Actual props and miniatures usually look much more realistic.

#14, oh god, that crash wasn't even close to looking real. hell it wasn't even close to looking like good CG

My only complaint is the lack of actor playing Anakin.

#16, Agreed. But what were the alternatives? I would say Vin Diesel would have made a cool Darth Vader in spe.
Or simply put Viggo Mortensen into an old brown sweater, call it jedi apprentice and tell him that a light saber is lighter than a two-handed battlesword... hell, I would have been cooler, why didnt they cast me?

LOL EVERYTHINGNEW IS GARBAGE AND CANT BE LOOKED AT WITHOUT COMPARING IT TO THE ORIGNAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sheesh. Its like George Lucas shat on your grandmothers grave or something.

Edit: Lest we all forget how FREAKING CORNY the original trilogy was?

I enjoyed the prequel series. My only complaints are that the actor playing Anakin was rather wooden, and the dialog, especially in Ep. 2, was sometimes even hokier than that in the original movie series. Plenty of action and stuff, though.
