There's nothing ugly in a GNX ! A nice 300 HP from a nicely tuned 3800 ! Last nice car Buick did ! And a fair 380lb-ft @ 2800 ! |

Ugly? Sooo... what, you think an 87 civic looked better? Or an 87 sentra? Whoever posted that must be a 14yr. kid who has NO idea what it is, when it was made or what it can do! Heheheh, dumb ass! |

Darth vader outside, Rosanne Barr inside.
While Buick Grand Nationals (GNX's to be specific) have a very potent engine, their transmissions make my AWD Eclipse's engine look like pure gold in comparison, not to mention the Buick's "Battleship" like handling. Great quartermile cruncher if that's all you're into though. |

You don't want to play with one of those. They are faaaaast.
But the transmissions do leave something to be desired.
Like a stronger trans. |

I like the black finish. Very professional. I also like that particular body... The Caprice/Monty/Grand Prix/GNX/this that and the other thing was on. Well, the Caprice might not have been the same body but they looked simular. Probably one of the best looking cars from the 80's if I do say so myself. And as someone said, better looking then anything the Orient had to offer at the time... |

the Bonneville was the only car that switch from being a B-body, to a G-body. why? I have no clue. Its GM. the Caprice has always been a B-body, btw. The Grand Prix, for a few years the Bonneville, Malibu, Monte Carlo, Cutlass Supreme, and the Regal/GN/GNX were all G-bodys from 1982-1988. before that, they were known as A-bodys. |

Actually, the buick 200r4 is very strong, and in stock for will take you into the 11's, as far as the gnx being a battleship, well it pulls .93g, not too shabby.

3400 lbs is still 3400 lbs, making it not a fun car to toss around, .93g's pulled GNX (This was not standard trim skidpad rating, that was GNX) and this is quite limiting, along with the whole "Let's give everyone an automatic" package. Love Chevy all you want, but the Turbo Regal was never intended to see heavy road racing, or anything BUT quarter miles. The 200r4 was strong(er), but that was (once again) only on the GNX's which there were only ~500 +/- 40 (I'm kinda fuzzy on the exact numbers) and which also cost a lot more. The not "x'ed" GN's had a much more troublesome tranny that plagued them, which caused the upgrades for the GNX, which was the last year of the turbo. It's too bad, really, as there could've been a lot more done if they put that engine in a much more sporting chassis/transmission. Possibly a Corvette configuration?
Anyways, I ramble.
[edit] Oh yeah, and you'll be hard pressed to see ANYONE other than fat, old, white men driving them. They'll yell until the death of themselves defending those things like they're the end all and be all of cars, more so than even camEro owners.
Must be something in the water down South.[/edit]

Sorry you confused camaro drivers with mustang drivers. I own a camaro and dont think its the end all be all. The end all be all is A 1970 E-body with a 426 but only a mopar guy would know that. |

Eh? So what? What does my own car have to do with my comments? Was I comparing my car to that one? I hate my car too. Too fucking heavy and one of the worst chassis stiffness this side of the Camaro. I would've much preferred a 3rd gen R1 RX-7, but unfortunately, they aren't quite the best cars for where I live, and suck for daily useablity |
