I will start working again this summer, and I will hopefully pull in $250+ a week or more. If I can get my second job, it will be better.

That's the problem with the "ghetto fabulous" crowd: They're deeply ashamed/afraid of being poor. They take on that attitude of "Get rich or die tryin'," and act like having a shit load of money to flaunt and lots of flashy jewelry and gigantic, ugly rims to signal to other people how rich they are is the measure of an exemplary human being.

#23, I think they do it, because they are insecure about how other see them, so they feel the need to 'fit in'. I went through that stage (trying to fit in), and trust me, it is not only stupid, but you end up having people laugh at you rather than making friends.

#23, I'm not saying I agree with such crass consumerism, but that's what happens when you grow up in a project on welfare, as soon as you have some money you gotta let everybody know that you aren't drinking powdered milk anymore.
I see it in white culture just as much as in black culture, too, new McMansions, Mercedes SUVs and permanent fake tans are all rampant in these little cookie cutter home owners associated "planned communities" all over SoCal.

#28, Hell, I grew up poor, too....my family was on food stamps for a while when I was a little. But if I had money, I wouldn't be running around in cars and clothing that look like Elvis shat on them.
I just never felt the need to prove myself to anyone else. When other students in school made fun of my '70s vintage, flannel trimmed denim jacket, I just laughed at their cookie cutter American Eagle T-shirts. I made my own style and determined for myself what was cool, and automatically looked down upon anyone who attempted to make me feel inferior. Their attitude on the subject put them beneath me by default.

#30, Heck, when my grandpa was a kid, he would get the same wagon for Christmas every year, just painted different colors :P
e: he occasionally got an airplane pencil sharperner, too

I tend to just let people dress and act whatever way they want to and try not to disrupt my own equilibrium by rolling my eyes too much. You have a big fancy car and live in a huge house fine, I don't care, and personally I don't give a rats ass about what other people think of me. Why? Because when you judge other people based solely on the size of the wheels on their car or how many credit cards they have then your opinion means exactly dick. I like to dress in shabby clothes and drive twenty year old cars and if anyone takes issue with it then that's just fine by me.
