#7, Yeah, DVLA lookup. It only works on British cars, though.
I was introduced to it by my fellow users of the Internet Movie Car Database, who use it to identify cars in British TV shows and movies. It's fun to look up background cars from '70s vintage Brit TV series....every once in a while, you'll run across one that's still registered.
Anyway, if there are any British plate you want to look up, you can go to http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/Ev...?SKIN=directgov and then click on "Make Enquiry."

#7, There's at least a couple of such sites I imagine. For example someone once posted all the data of a Lotus from GTL demo based on its plates.
