I love Vipers. I wouldn't mind having a Miata. I won't bother getting into the discussion over which is a driver's car, considering I've never driven either one.
Has anyone here driven both of them? |

#23, I've never driven a Viper, but I've read enough about them to know what to expect. I have driven plenty of cars that I have read reviews of, 1st gen Miata included, so I do have a basis for my opinion. |

#24, You seen to have a pretty strong bias considering you've never personally driven it. You don't ever say "I've read this about them" or "I've heard that about them", it's always "This is how they are."
On top of that, you've apparently based your ideas off of what you've read in one magazine (EVO, apparently, since that's the only magazine I've ever heard of that hates the Viper), and any of the magazines that disagree you counter with "Well, they're not as reliable as the magazine I've read."
Even doing this once or twice is one thing, but this is probably four or five times you've bashed Vipers in this way, and your severe disdain for them is honestly a bit perplexing. |

Vipers are like Ferraris and Lambos. If you have a lot of money, it's a fun toy to impress people with. If you're a real car guy, you'll build it instead of buying it, and you can't really build these things. Your 80G would be much better spend in say... an Evo with ~$40G worth of mods. |

#22, No, I'm just remarking on the odd circumstances that brought the manufacturer of infamously crappy 80s vehicles to creating one of the greatest sports cars of all time imo (but we all know it's true) |

I'd rather have a Viper than just about any import other than a Tuned Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo or supercar. I wouldn't really give a flying fuck about handling, just brute power and it's a nice image car, too. |

#28, That's cause they bought AMC, who's workers showed them how to make real cars :P
Yes, most AMC workers were absorbed into Chrysler, some still work there, too.

Yeah, investing in driver skill is amazing. You suddenly realize that even a crap car can be fun, not to mention they can be made to do things most people think they cannot do. Oh, and the fact that you're getting faster and faster without changing a thing in the car. Sure, you'll hit the limit of what the car can do in the end, but never think that you already know all there is about driving.
Thinking that your car cannot possibly go faster is a silly thing to do. Just hand it over to a more experienced driver and watch H. Watts, Secrets of Solo Racing. |
