I drove a 6000 LE once similar to this (belonged to a friend's mother), but it had composite-style headlights and maroon interior. Just wondering if it's something special.
How exactly was the STE different? |

#11, Here's what mine has:
Electronic ride control (self-leveling suspension), sport-tuned suspension, sway bars, a higher-output 2.8 V6 engine and FWD (the 3.1 and AWD didn't arrive till '88), a fancier interior with sport seats and leather-wrapped 4 spoke steering wheel (and shift knob), a full digital dash (speedo, tach, full driver info center, and 38 buttons total), unique front and rear end styling, fog lights, 10-spoke 14" alloy wheels, and 6000 STE badging. The transmission, for whatever reason, is a standard 3 spd auto (iirc they got overdrive and/or 4 speeds after mine was built). It made Car & Driver's 10 Best list in 1984 and '85 and some call it America's first domestic sport sedan.
As for the LE, it's actually quite common as 6000s go, it was the midrange model that people bought if they wanted more than 96hp. |
