#5, Oh and so that means you don't like Behemoth, the polish extreme death metal band.

Hell no. I'm an old fart that actually likes when music has melody and harmony.

therion needs less fat chicks. other than that its pretty good, despite the language barriers. (like metal is understandable much anyways)

#22, All classical singers (fat chicks included) are not a part of the band, they are hired only for recording and concerts. And yeah, I agree that Therion starts sliding towards gibberish... but when the lead singer/writer is a head of a magic sect-like society it's kinda understandable. I just concentrate on the music, the lyrics are refreshing after perpetual calls to satan/demons and/or mystic firey swords and/or death worship of your generic metal bands though.

#21, How old are you ?

And don't get me wrong, I really like melodic music.. but sometimes (read often), I need agressivity. Behemoth is a band that fulfills this need perfectly : crunchy riffs, monsterous vocals (he sounds like he screams with a sock in his mouth), fast powerful drums, present bass lines, that's all I need when I want agressive, loud music.

On another note, I'm on a amazon.ca cd shopping frenzy : I buy "used & new" cds for as low as 2$CA (+ shipping) sometimes, for a cd that's worth 28$CA brand new here.. And it comes in perfect quality. The case itself may have some minimal wear, but for the price, it's really cool. I've bought about 20 cds recently there and I'm not disappointed even if the shipping can be rather long sometimes (ordered april 11th, got it today). I'm still waiting for my Non-Human Level, Cannae, SikTh, At The Gates, Urkraft and Bleed The Sky cds. Today I got Bush-X's 2 first albums and The Haunted's Revolver. Can't wait for tomorrow !!!1

#24, 24. I've even read "how to get into death metal" site and I still just can't. Tried to download some Nile song and I can't even listen through the half of it. Don't know why.

I've been jamming for a couple of days to Marilyn Manson's cover of Patti Smith's "Rock 'n Roll Nigger."

It's so over the top I freaking love it.

Just downloaded Buckethead's album Electric Tears and am listening to it right now. It's all instrumental, slower and quieter than the stuff I'm used to hearing from him.

Really powerful stuff, though.

The late, great Michael Hedges - possibly one of the greatest acoustic guitar players of all time - covering "All Along the Watchtower."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs0rKW2jqMU

He spends the first 1:50 or so tuning his guitar and joking with the audience, but when he starts playing, he really starts playing.

Lately I've been getting into the "retro wave" scene; basically modern groups creating 1980s-style synth instrumentals.

An amusing video made from one of my favorite tracks so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLfUL_dKYrA

How about an unreleased song from the '80s that was later used in a 16-bit videogame? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2OWC5Hosv8 (The Jetzons' lead songwriter worked, uncredited, on Sonic 3)

The Sonic 3 song: https://youtu.be/yStMqWTu-lw

Hard Times was only uncovered and officially released in the past decade or so...
