this movie was the best of the year without a doubt, with superbad in a close second. the only thing that coulda made the movie better is if the darkseekers didn't look so damn fake.

I thought it was kinda mediocre, Smith gave a good performance but there was too much bullshit about the existence of God and all this other existential nonsense. I also didn't like how all the zombies were supposed to be representative of the human condition instead of just mindless carnivores, in the end it just didn't work. because why the hell should Smith give a shit about legions of creatures that were trying to kill him? Why doesn't he just swipe a boat and escape the city? All in all I found it to be a very pretentious zombie flick

I watched this moive car stunt special on speed. It was where will smith steals the Lardstang from the dealership. He drives it through the window onto the street. They fucked up one car doing that. Not even in the movie.

#4, No other zombie movie has characters give a crap about the undead beyond worrying that they'll be attacked and eaten, what the hell did Smith think he was gonna do with the cure, vaccinate hundreds of millions of crazed flesh eating zombies all by his lonesome?!?

#5, Okay so he just sits on his ass and waits around bitching in the dead streets of New York not even trying to attempt to contact the outside world beyond broadcasting on some AM radio station? And where the hell did Alice Braga come from? If her and her kid could show up unscathed despite all the translucent zombies then there must've been a pretty obvious way to get out of the city. And I said get a boat, see he's on an island which means there's water and if this guy was so damned intelligent he'd at least plot a course to Alaska or something where the sun never sets and where there'd only be a few zombies if any at all.

#6, Yes because when I stepped into the theater I unknowingly happened upon

#8, (cont.) a vortex that teleported me back into the year 1985 and with my teleportation I lost the ability to distinguish Will Smith from Terry Alexander and his dog from Lori Cardille. Stupid me.

#8, Okay, I haven't seen it, but I did see The Omega Man, so I think I get the gist of it:

Other zombie flicks generally don't have this whole "last man on earth" vibe. I'm assuming this guy is trying to save humanity or some such, rather than preserve its dwindling numbers.

Plus, the sun doesn't set in Alaska part of the year. If the infected were there, they might just wait until the time of the year where the sun doesn't RISE, and then....well, they already made that movie this year, too....only with more vampires.

#10, Alright alright alright, I know I didn't use my best rationale when arguing my points but this movie just left me with a bunch of questions throughout and near the end I just get the same old happy-crappy cop out ending.

I mean, if this guy keep broadcasting on AM radio but when that lady finally shows up he freaks out and claims that he "knows" that he was the last person. Why the hell did he bother trying to broadcast anything at all? To me this movie was just Will Smith doing his best Castaway impersonation but now there's a bunch of zombies and existentialism instead of good ole' blood and gore. Seriously, it's like an artsy-fartsy zombie flick. Now, I don't hate this movie, I don't really like it much but there is genuine tension and Smith does give a good performance when he's not talking to mannequins. But, I...I'd just rather watch something from George Romero.

#12, Maybe not technically, but it's sort of a zombie-flick-by-proxy. Much like Warning Sign or 28 Days Later.

Speaking of horror films, is anyone else excited about Cloverfield? I almost never go to the theater (last film I saw was there was the last Star Wars, last one before that was Boogeymen - barf), I'm seriously thinking of going to see it when it comes out.

#12, Technically true, in the sense that Resident Evil 4 wasn't about shooting zombies but rather Spanish villagers infected with a dangerous parasite. The Dark Stalkers never died, just mutated. But to me it is essentially a zombie flick, I'm not buying into this whole "Will Smith and the human condition" crap.

#13, I'm excited but also a little apprehensive, I don't think I've been to a movie in the last five years that has totally lived up to it's hype, well maybe a few, but they were few and far between. That's not to say they were bad movies by any stretch of the imagination of course. But with Cloverfield it seems that the creators are hinting so strongly at the fact that this is a straight-up monster movie they might pull a fast one and include some other nonsense in there as well.
