Description:
Alright fine, it's come to this. I need/want a new car, and I know I've been saying that for about 4 years now but I finally....FINALLY have the resources to pull it off and instead of periodically asking if you guys know something about such and such a model I've decided to just start and thread and get some opinions. |

#18, They are solid cars, very fun to drive (yes i know what you think, sensekhmet, thank you) and are very well built overall (interior finition is impeccable), but the issues I've discussed are real and redundant. As I said, buy a brand new one, not a used one. |

#12, I've seen a few good ones in my range, but they're kinda high mileage and I don't know how well they'd handle in a Michigan winter (provided I don't just garage it and pray my Chrysler will last another winter).
#17, I have been seriously considering a 97-03 Grand Prix, they're extremely popular over here and I've seen GT and GTP models around $6K in awesome shape. I've also kicked around the idea of a 300M, they are extremely nice. |

#25, The stereo system is not a huge concern of mine, as long as the head unit and speakers work, I'm good. |

#24, A 300M would be a really good choice, and you could also look for a Grand Prix GXP (or maybe they're oo expensive, I don't know) or a Bonneville SSEi, which are rare. |

I'd go with a Crown Vic. My mom got a 2003 not too long ago with just 50k on the clock. Old person owned and near mint for just 9k. She has a base model but she also didn't have great credit. If you look you can even find sport models for about the same price. |

Crown Vics are really good deals, but the Ford 4.6 is a massive pain in the ass to work on.
Then again, compared to the other cars mentioned here with the likes of the FWD Chrysler 3.5 V6s, I guess it wouldn't be that bad.

#30, In the Vics I can't think of anything that is that bad that would be part of regular maintenance. Everything on the top and front is pretty out in the open. Even the DOHC in my friends Marauder has plenty of room. No god help you if you have to work on the exhaust. |

I have been seriously considering a Marauder, I want a big and relatively fast car and I think it would fit the bill. I also kicked around the idea of an Impala SS, but I can't justify the expense between an LT1 equipped Caprice or ex-police 9C1 and an SS in good condition. And I would like something a little newer. |

#32, Impala SSs are too expensive and 9C1s are always beat up. If it's a four-door with the LT1 you're after, you're better off to go for a '94-'96 Roadmaster or Fleetwood. |

Also: Some 1994-1996 Caprices also had the LT1, and all 1994-1996 GM wagons had it, too. |
