Description:
The Conquest's new engine going together, a 350 chevy with some very nice Summit aluminum heads, 64cc chambers, that'll make some power.

I'm still eager to see how the whole thing comes together.

was a 2.6 not "sweet" enough for you? Gritboy. Not everything needs a damn 350.

#3, Woah. Ok, that's rather unnecessary.

Having trouble deducing the tone of your post, but if you're seriously trying to call LTR a gritboy for his choice of replacement engine, I already know whose side I'd take on the issue. Watch it.

Apparently RRB thinks that anyone who swaps a V8 into a foreign-built car is a "gritboy." This isn't the first time he's said it, and it's getting a little tiresome.

In my opinion, it's not that LTR thinks smallblock V8s are the end-all, be-all to engines... they're just reasonably-priced to build, he obviously has a lot of experience with working on them, and he only swaps them into vehicles whose original engines are already dead.

#3, If by "sweet" you mean "Spun it's bearings and siezed up" then yes, the Conquests 2.6 isn't sweet enough for me. There's a reason I was able to get the car for $500, it was junk.

#5, Foreign? I didn't buy no piece a Jap-Scrap! It's a Mopar! [/Grittboy]

#6, Pretty much, you'll note I haven't replaced the motor in the 944 yet and have no plans to do so.

I'm eager to see more of the project, because I look at it as the sum of its parts....it's a lightweight, RWD, V8-powered sports coupe built on a low budget. What's not to like?

While the Conquest may be a sought-after and hard to find RWD platform, the G54B engine itself was not a paragon of reliability, performance, or technological innovation. This is hardly automotive blasphemy.

hey, more power to ya LTR! You've got more than enough actual car work posted here to end any arguments as far as i'm concerned. I say, while you're at it, chuck a small block in the 944 for good measure!

Hmm. Not really sure what I think of this build. Since opposition isn't welcome, I think I'll just walk away.

I will say this though, certain vehicles are awesome with small-block swaps. Interpret that how you will.

#14, 454 nailed it. If you have another opinion about what kind of engine would be better for a replacement, you're free to express yourself... but belittling someone for deciding on an engine due to their own personal experience, and performance/cost needs, is just completely unwarranted.

Every time I look in newest images and see a thumb of a big, beautiful engine sitting in a garage I just know LTR posted it.

I'm not sure what to think about this. Yes, it's great but there is a slight nagging somewhere in my head. Anyway.
Will the driveline cope with the torque?
