Yeah, but the car can still be saved... I wouldnt mind one of these for my next car if I could find one in good condition. The Engines had a pretty wide Horsepower range from the factory though, didn't they?

Weren't these things at the time of the EPA freakout that pretty much killed domestic muscle? I seem to recall that power-wise, the C3 was pretty much the low point of Corvette history.

#11, I think purists say muscle ended in 72' when the EPA came in and set emissions requirements, the only way they could be met for the next model year was to drop engine compression, and HP numbers fell, the federal govt also required new cars be advertised w/ thier net HP ratings, not gross HP, so the figures fell two fold, in reality and on paper

Why the wing? Why????

And for the record, this is a mid-'70s Corvette, meaning the horsepower would just barely be over 200.

#16, didn't they hit sub 200 at one point? or was that the 80s?

#17, '79-'81 cars (I think those years, I know that it was up until '82) made 190 hp.

And of course, the 6 cylinder models ('53 and '54) were rated at 150 hp.

#18, The '82 had ~200-210 hp. But had HORRIBLE reliability, thanks to the ill-conceived "cross-fire" fuel injection system that was introduced that year. ( I remember the system did something like fire ALL the spark plugs on one bank of cylinders, then fire all the plugs on the other bank of cylinders...some shitty thing like that... a cheap attempt at fuel injection...)
