#116, If it's on an actual trail (I mean a real trail, not yuppie theme parks), there shouldn't be obstacles....just a lot of mud and some steep inclines. Then again, I never really understood the 4x4 enthusiast mentality: Maybe I'm just too used to it. |

I never said excellent, i said they were one of the feiw that were capable of doing some actual offroading.
To sum everything up to make it mor clear ill do it in a moment just bare with me as i collect my thoughts...
And this is what i usually see as the entrance to a normal trail....

#126, Looks like some of the roads around here, except no "20-point turns". |

Ok a hummer(original) is a capable offroader, infact they are really good offroading machines but they are to expensive for what they can accomplish and unless if you got a army edition id be rather afraid to scratch that quite expensive shiny vehicle there.
Now a H2 is just a big plastic clad peice of crap in my books, there playing off there old name and the old look so they can lure the yuppies in to pay 50k or so one something that isnt all to special...
Land rovers are traditianally capable vehicles in the trails, but get em into rock crawling and there to top heavy and then again theres the price factor.
Now for the Jeep Grand Cherokee...They are just to damned big and heavy to do much, there suspension is to tuned for daily cruising on the blacktop than it is even for curb hopping.
The Liberty doesnt have enough suspension travel in my eyes but they seemed to try and make it mroe of a yuppy offroader with the waterproof everything and whatnnot |

#128, Obviously they just aren't made for your brand of off-roading. Then again, no stock vehicle would be. |

If you want something to actually go offraoding in you need something that will do it and be able to take the punishment and still go after the punishment.
A good ole beater truck from the 80's on back will do just fine. |

#129, As i said, mudding isnt offroading its just mashing the gas :-p
And i know that all trails arent real tight places, just lots of em around my area are and a vehicle can get pretty banged up in em. |

#131, As I said, who said anything about mudding? Around here it's just point A to point B (all the major roads are paved, just some of the shortcuts are rough). |

"My brand of offroading" as skid put it, is were your vehicle must be harmed in some way throughout the course of your trip, mudding is the only way you can go out and get dirty without beeing harmed. |

#134, Or driving on obstructed trails, like the roads around here (which, by the way, people actually live on and need some way to get around on them). In other words, they are sensible for some forms of off-roading, not others.
Are you even reading my posts? |

#133, Then thats not offroading then, thats just part of your daily drive to work and back but if you have to drive through 30 miles of woods to get to a major street then yes it would be offroading.
But i hope that lil summery helped you see what i am saying.
I was working on my rc car during this whole thing so i was kinda jumping back and forth... |

#137, Really it is off-roading, since none of the major roads around here are like that, it's just the "shortcuts". But people do live on those roads and have to navigate them. |

#136, Yes im reading them its just that you say that some roads are unpaved or the shortcuts are sloped and muddy.....
Thats not saying much...
And that stuff still doesnt require a SUV, i bet ya i could go out there and go everywere a stock suv could go. |

#138, So thus these 'Shortcuts" as you call them or peoples roads require them to buy a suv to slide around in? |
