#41, More ambiguous hatred towards ambient.. yay. So what if he defended it? He never said it was "sweeT" or "tite" he just got tired of the "pushing a rope" comments, like I do.

#43, Thats (obviously) entirely true, but the point here is that people can do whatever they want (performance-wise) and get to where they want to get and thats that.

I think the consensus is: Why stray from the "beaten path" if you know that you're going for less efficiency? FWD dragsters will always be slower and less practical. FWD anything will be slower and less practical, yet in recent years people have been bizarrely insistent on it.

#45, However, I too get tired of the "pushing a rope" analogy, since it's overused. Even worse than that for me is when people respond to criticism of wings on FWD car by saying "How does air care which wheels drive the car?", which is probably the dumbest response in history, both in content and phrasing.

Well, aerodynamically speaking, its all the same in the straight-line [edit]in the lower speeds[/edit], its the traction and the engine compartment limitations that kill the FWD. Though, the FWD still has the disadvantage in cornering. -aerodynamically and technically speaking. The thing is, the "pushing a rope" analogy is the stupidest thing ever created. So what if everyday people cant drive FWDs properly at the drivetrains outer limits? Theyd do even worse in a RWD.

Eh, just for personal opinion, I prefer RWD over FWD, for daily driving... FWD has a bunch of little quirks. I didn't notice those quirks that much when driving the Cavy, but after having a year of only driving RWD vehicles (Capri and Tracker), then going back to mainly driving a FWD vehicle, I notice those quirks more...

(ones that come to mind now... [both happened in the Cavy and Mirage, but in neither the Capri or Tracker]
-when accelerating and turning over painted stripes in the road, both my Cavy and Mirage shuddered, like the front wheels were having trouble handling all the driving inputs...
-when backing up, the moment I turn the wheel, for some reason, maintaining backwards velocity tries to force the car to steer more...)

FWD mostly becomes scary when you have some power going to it. High speeds are also scary. If you try to launch hard, it gets a little scary. When my friend launches hard in his Passat VR6, I can feel the torgue steer as a passenger. I personally can't stand driving a FWD car. I won't ever buy one. Don't try to tell me that I'm being closed minded. I've driven quite a few different FWD cars.

#50, Well, for me, what kinda drivetrain a car has is outta my hands at the moment, what matters most is how much is in my wallet, and how much the car is gonna cost me (maintenance, reliability, fuel consumption, etc.)

...and if that means I have to drive a slow stupid little FWD econobox, then, by gum, that's what I have to do. I'll grin in bear it.

#51, Oh yeah, no doubt. And unfortunately, as far as reliability and cost go, FWD cars is sadly where you usually have to turn to. RWD cars are usually more expensive for one really good reason; they perform better. I just got lucky with mine. RWD and reliability in a car I didn't have to pay for :)

I consider it a con for any car I'm considering, but I'd buy a FWD car if I had to. It's really a total coincidence that all the cars I've owned so far have been RWD.

#30, "pushing a string" analogy is the dumbest thing just because it does not even make sense...if you try to push a string, it won't go anywhere, and if you pull it, it will

if you use rwd, you will get down the strip quickly...if you use fwd, you will get down there slighly slower

see what i mean?

#35, so using your logic would mean that strictly rwd cars must be used for grad racing, nothing else...no fwd cars, or jet cars, or trucks, or whatever else people might race FOR FUN...do you think that a jet engine for a fighter plane was made to be put into a truck and go down the 1/4? nope...does that mean it's not fun? nope...get where i'm going with this? people like to experiment, they will race anything that has wheels, and saying somethign to the effect of "omg he is so stupid for not having a blown bb camaro to drag race" is just an example of you being close-minded or ignorant

#37, you're right, just because you get down the 1/4 in 12 seconds instead of 11, it can not be fun in any way...stupid asshole
