I read about these, they were NOT used by the Highway Patrol. They were TESTED, in the Highway Patrol colors, to see if they could handle the duty. They couldn't.

#3, I doubt if they could... plus most police officers like rwd, big cars...

I saw a newer impala cop car last weekend on the highway hitting people with radar... looked mighty goofy.

I hate using words like shawty, ending my words with izzle or any of its forms, and I also dislike greatly using the urr after words

I don't think power was the problem... in 1988, LTDs and Caprices weren't exactly barn-burners either. I think the problem was probably interior room... ya need room for the cage, the computer equipment and weapons, and enough room in the front seat for the doughnut disposal unit.

I have trouble imagining a 1988 Camry police car going over railroad tracks and curbs, or PITing a full-size pickup at speed.

A lot of unorthodox cars probably got tested by PD departments in the 80's to see if they could cut thier gas bills with smaller, lighter cars. Problem is, as mentioned above, small cars aren't suited for police work.
