#2, Careful. The most reliable car I've ever owned (or even heard of) was powered by that "dreaded LG4". |

#6, just save up for a 350...doesn't cost a lot to build up, and has much more potential than a 305.
and the LG4 is a very reliable engine, just no power whatsoever.

#7, Depending on your application, you can more "bang for the buck" out of the 305. Especially if it's a street car: Why spend another $500 or so for a 350 when you can use the same parts and get 300 hp out of a 305 for much less than $1,000? |

#2, Of course not. The SS came with the L69. Not that it's that much better. It's still the stock motor, but it only has 60k on it, so I'm in no hurry to swap it out. I need to get some tranny work done first, but probably next year I'll work on picking up some Vortec heads, new intake, cam, and headers on it to bump it up to about 300 HP. |

#12, Well, thing is with mine... The car has 106k on it because the block cracked at 40k and was replaced under warranty. That's why the motor only has 60k on it. The tranny needs a new lockup solinoid and rear bushing (causing vibration and leaks). Fluid smells a bit burnt, so I'm kind of up in the air about just replacing what needs fixing and seeing how long it'll last, or just getting it rebuilt now to get it all done and out of the way. This spring I'll have it figured out.
By the way, thanks for the comments :)

#8, all depends on the price you find the block for, 350s are very plentiful in the random junkyards around here so theres lots of good ones that aren't cracked and such for cheap. It's probably different in every area, price and quantity/quality wise. Thus my reasoning for going with the 350, all depends on connections and pricings in your area. |
