#39, No, our forums arent over moderated. I'd say out of all the boards I have been at, its the most laid back.

#41, From my experience there, I stand by my earlier claim. Or perhaps I should ammend it: They're not overmoderated in the sense that the moderators too often lock or delete threads, they're overmoderated in the sense that there are far too many moderators there who are impressed with the small amount of authority they have. "Napolean Bonamods", as I like to call them.

Most of them - as well as many of the more respected regular users - are uptight, argumentative, and short-tempered.

#48, Well, now you know why. :P

To tell you the truth, I never liked them much. Just not my kind of place. I don't even know why I stuck around long enough to make the posts that I did.

Yeah, I mean if you guys like it, fine.

One good thing that I can say about the Ricecop forums is that the General Automotive Discussion was a good place for technical advice. If I ever post on the forums again, it'll be for that reason.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. Opinions on image limits per vehicle? I was leaning towards a number around 10.

#52, i think 10 is a good number because that could be several angles of the outside and under the hood also the inside if needed, besides if they wanted to show more they could just link them in there comments to this or another site

#37, what about em?

"are uptight, argumentative"
I find your pointing this out endlessly amusing

Also, 10 is a good limit.

#54, Yeah, snake, I bother you. I get it already; you don't have to point it out every time you wish to respond to one of my posts.

And, dim and egocentric and you think I am, the fact that I'm uptight and argumentative hasn't escaped me. Hell, it didn't escape me when I made that post. But I don't like to talk to people who are like me online. If I met myself, I'd probably think I'm a prick.

I, personally, have a dislike for moderators. They usually have a very narrow sense of humor, as in, if they don't think it's funny, then they assume EVERYONE thinks it's not funny. If there are too many of them, they establish a clique that all non-mods have to suck up to if they don't want to be messed with.

...and there are some hardass moderators... rocks of uncaring indifference that don't allow any leeway and punish people at the drop of a feather.

I use that dislike of moderators to control HOW I moderate. I only mess with people that bother the ENTIRE FORUM for an extended period of time... and right now on RoN, there has only been one user like that. I do my job in a way that I think I may lose my moderator status at any time if I abuse my power. ...and before doing anything big, I consult with either Trooper or Lemming first. I'm not a renegade moderator.

#56, I gotta say, you and Lemming do a really good job here. And yes, you are totally right about the mod abuse thing. I'm starting to notice that at the Volvo forums. There are now 15 of them there, and quite a few of them are starting to get on my last nerve. I recently had a huge argument with one of them off the site. After seeing him at a meet, I wanted to kick his fucking ass.

Anyway, I digress... Keep up the good work here ;)

#56, That's the way it should be done, rather than just entering "god mode" and smiting the nonbelievers. Mods all too often use their power to try and refine the forums into a place that they can find amusing, rather than thinking of them as an actual community.

I've demodded (is that a word?) 2 mods in the past. One b/c they were inactive and the other because the guy turned into a real jerk. I'm probably the most laid back person I know as far as all that goes. Not much bothers me and I'm really not quick to ban/"punish" someone unless there is a really good reason. I think the mods on here do a really good job and the forum mods do a good job as well. There are moments on the forums when certain mods get out of line but for the most part it's pretty decent.

But back on track, I'm still working on this little project. It's slow going so don't expect to see anything for a while but there is a name for the site, a logo is done, a basic design has been mocked up and I'm starting to do the massive amounts of code that will be required. When it is semi-functioning I'll ask on here and possibly the forums if anyone is interested in beta testing :) Also if you have suggestions post them here or just email them to me.
